Résumé

Dr. Renata Fossati

Dr. Fossati imported her first bitch from England in 1978 and was immediately captivated by both the beauty and fascinating nature of the breed. Since then, she has bred Samoyeds with the kennel name “del Corno Bianco”, and engaged in ongoing research to discover all that she could about the breed, its origins, its functions and the main blood lines. From several successful litters, she has produced 12 Champions, including a World Champion and a European Champion and has exported puppies to several countries. She was the President of GISS (the Italian Samoyed club) from its foundation in 1987 until 2005.

She has been licensed to judge Samoyeds since 2000, when she judged the Samoyed of the Year competition for the Northern Samoyed Society in the UK.

Also in 2000, she helped organise the 1st World Samoyed Meeting in Milan. She was the patron of the 2nd World Samoyed Meeting in Bratislava in 2009, where she judged Best in Show for the Samoyed Club of Slovakia’s Championship Show.

She has judged the breed on numerous other occasions, including specialties in Prague in 2007 and in 2010 for the Irish Samoyed Club.

She was the founder and coordinator of the Italian magazine “Il Samoiedo”, and is the author of several books including three on the Samoyed breed. Since 2008, she has been an editor for the official magazine of the Italian Kennel Club.

In her professional life, she graduated in Educational Psychology at the University of Verona with a thesis on Animal Assisted Therapy and Activities, and has worked as a consultant to the Universities of Verona and Parma, and to the Police Department’s National Narcotic Dogs program.

She is a Therapy Dogs specialist, creating and managing projects involving dogs and other animals in schools and other facilities, and has illustrated her projects as an invited speaker at conferences in Glasgow and Tokyo.
