Which Format? PAL or NTSC?
NTSC is the American TV standard and is used throughout North
and Central America, most of the Caribbean / West Indies, much of
South America (Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru,
Suriname, Venezuela), parts of Asia (Burma, Japan, Philippines,
South Korea, Taiwan), and a number of Pacific Islands.
PAL and SECAM are the European standards,
and as far as DVDs are concerned, they are equivalent. PAL
DVDs will also work in countries where SECAM is the TV standard.
So, you will need a PAL format DVD in Europe, Africa, Australia,
New Zealand, Haiti, most of Asia, part of South America (Argentina,
Brazil, French Guiana, Paraguay, Uruguay) and a few more Pacific
Islands.
Cambodia and Vietnam appear to have multiple standards.
